Over the years, Dr. Fredric Newman has performed countless breast augmentation procedures, providing women with the breast size and shape they have always desired. One of the many aspects of breast augmentation that will be discussed during your initial consultation with Dr. Newman is the best placement for the incisions through which the implants will be inserted. While residual scarring after surgery is a very common concern, the fact is that Dr. Newmans experience and surgical technique often allows scars to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Dr. Newman typically utilizes the inframammary approach when creating the incisions for breast augmentation. An inframammary incision is made in the crease of the breast (the naturally-occurring fold under the breast). This is one of the most common areas for incision placement, and Dr. Newman has found it to be ideal for many patients. Scars from inframammary incisions are often well-concealed, and this approach helps Dr. Newman place the breast implants with a greater degree of accuracy and precision. Inframammary incisions can be utilized for both saline and silicone implants.
While inframammary incisions are Dr. Newmans preferred approach, it doesnt necessarily mean that it is the best option for every patient. Other surgical techniques, such as the transaxillary incision (through the armpit) or the periareolar incision (around the areola) may be more appropriate in some cases; however, Dr. Newman has seen the inframammary approach offer many of his patients consistently superior outcomes.
Dr. Newman will discuss your options with you during your initial consultation and address any concerns you may have. He will conduct a thorough examination, talk to you about your needs and goals, and help you determine the incision placement option that can provide you with the best possible results.
