A combination of experience and advancements in surgical technology has allowed world-renowned Connecticut plastic surgeon Dr. Fredric Newman to perform liposuction procedures with incredible accuracy and precision. For neck and chin liposuction procedures, small incisions will be made behind the ears and concealed beneath the chin. Patients will be provided with general anesthesia to ensure they are comfortable throughout the procedure. Next, a small, hollow surgical tube called a cannula will be inserted through the incisions. The cannula will be moved back and forth as gentle suction is applied to remove excess fat. Once the proper amount of fat has been removed, the small incisions will be closed with sutures.
Some swelling and bruising should be expected after the procedure. During the first few days, most patients will wear a supportive chin strap and will experience the majority of their swelling at this time. Over the course of the first week following your surgery, swelling and bruising will continue to subside. Most patients will be able to resume work within the first week and then return to their normal routines after about two weeks. During these initial two weeks, patients should refrain from strenuous activity such as heavy lifting.
