Open vs. Closed Rhinoplasty

Why Costs Differ

There are two approaches to a rhinoplasty procedure that Dr. Newman can take: open and closed. Both involve reshaping the nose by removing or augmenting cartilage and bone tissue beneath the skin. They differ in how the surgeon accesses the cartilage and bone:

Closed Rhinoplasty: Dr. Newman will operate through the nostril and make small incisions within the nose.
Open Rhinoplasty: Dr. Newman will make a small incision in the vertical strip of skin between the nostrils (columella).

Closed rhinoplasty has the major advantage of not resulting in any visible scars, but it also is the preferred choice because it is more affordable.
